Has Anyone Seen Spring?
It would seem that each time I have a quiet moment to gather my thoughts and sit down to compose a blog post the weather is positively Arctic – although if it was not, I would not be sitting down to write, I’d be outside instead harvesting my compost and clearing the raised beds of our first attempts to grow winter greens – there is not the merest hint of growth on them!
I have recently reconnected with some old friends via the wonderful world of Facebook (not so very long ago I was referring to it as Faecesbook as I just didn’t get it!) some of whom were last spotted on a dance floor circa 1990 sporting smiley badges and waving glo sticks, but who now live on the other side of the world with their young families and grow veggies!. (One friend also has worms which eat the human waste each time they flush. I am strangely drawn and yet repulsed at the same time – too many questions, not enough characters.)
I recently posted on my wall, in typically abbreviated fashion that I was ‘chitting my first earlies’. To my absolute horror even my fellow vegetable growers thought that this was an activity which involved a degree of squatting, insanitary toilet facilities and an ungodly hour. How rude! When in fact I was merely referring to the fact that I had carefully selected my seed potatoes for this years crop and had placed them in a suitable location to allow them to sprout before planting. I thought that we could have a regular ‘Gardner’s Question Time’ theme going but it would appear that my questions may be directed towards those who have the same amount of limited success in the garden as myself. I can grow peas though, any fool can grow peas.
If your little ones enjoy pottering too, Mash n Gravy has some beautiful new arrivals to ensure a spectacular display in the garden. Spring/Summer stock from Mini A Ture is now available to purchase with Molo hot on it’s heels. Smafolk has arrived and is bursting with freshness, while we are working on the images and descriptions for the Tutti Fruitti delights of Milibe Copenhagen, with Urban Elk, H.J.O.R.T.H and Katvig all to follow. All we need now is a little bit of sunshine!
