Where did the time go?

It’s almost Easter and everyone around here is rather EGGcited. On Easter Sunday, not only will there be an EGGcessive amount of chocolate, with any luck, but we will be celebrating a significant birthday at Mash n Gravy HQ. Major Disaster will be 5 years old!

Here at Mash n Gravy we’re all about little ones, primarily those with two legs but just lately, as the weather has begun to change for the better, my thoughts have turned to babies of the four legged variety.

Since our Weimaraner Noah died suddenly last June our house has been lacking a certain presence. The crazy welcome even if we’d only been to put the rubbish out, the wet nose in the face if we dared to lie in for even a moment longer than we should, the perpetual draught from a constantly wagging tail. There is also the fact that the children learn how to respect and care for animals and not to be afraid. There’s no denying it, every house hold needs some hairy loving from mans best friend!

Spring is just around the corner. I can feel it in my bones. No, really, I can!

Despite Mother Nature’s attempts to keep us all in doors with the constant Arctic breeze she will relent sooner or later, and when she does, I for one intend to be ready. Captain Chaos and Major Disaster will be banished from indoors until September at the very least!

Good News! Mini Rodini have, at last populated their own store in Stockholm with their 2010 Kids Spring/Summer collection.

This means that they will be shipping in our direction very soon. Keep checking in store for rare sightings of Pandas, Parrots and Pumas. And if animals aren’t your thing there are stripes and more stripes.

On a sales trip to NYC in 1955 Abbot Pederson decided to pop into a local bar prior to catching his return flight to Minneapolis. Stumbling out some time later in an attempt to find a taxi he took a wrong turning and found himself outside a taxidermists shop, staring at a row of stuffed penguins. Before you could say ‘flightless bird’, Pederson had bought one of the penguins, named him Pete and was sipping cocktails with him on the flight home.

At some point on the flight Pederson accidently knocked the head off the bird, and worse for wear was assisted by a stewardess who removed his tie and placed it round Pete’s neck. She joked that such a dapper fellow deserved to be immortalised, perhaps on a shirt similar to the one Pederson was wearing.

News Flash – it’s official! Britain has seen the coldest winter for thirty years, well not to sound pretentious but I don’t need some scientist to tell me that. I just have to take a look at all the kids clothes I had to wrap the children in, over the last few months. However, it’s not all bad news, for the other day I noticed that a large yellow ball in the sky was emitting some heat and the days lasting just a little bit longer before darkness fell, this can only mean one thing – Spring has Sprung – or rather, it is on the way.

As we all know kids do grow fast, and with Spring on the way, now is the perfect time to have that annual clear-out and decide which clothes will last through another season or which will be heading to the charity shop.
